Rains in parts of Kolkata keep mercury within limits

Day temperatures in different parts of West Bengal remained normal as rains lashed the city this afternoon keeping the humidity level within bearable limits here.
The day's highest temperature in the state was recorded at 37.9 degrees Celsius in Bankura, the MeT department said.
The towns of Asansol, Burdwan and Sriniketan in Gangetic West Bengal recorded 36.7 degrees Celsius, 35.4 degrees Celsius and 35.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Kolkata recorded the day's highest temperature at 35.4 degrees Celsius. Rains lashed different parts of the city for about half an hour in the afternoon keeping the humidity level low.
Jalpaiguri town in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal recorded the highest rainfall at 51 mm, the MeT department said.
The weatherman has forecast thunderstorm or rain in most parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, while thunderstorm and rain have been forecast in isolated areas of Gangetic West Bengal.
