Rains in some areas of Delhi, mercury below 40-degree mark

The mercury was below the 40- degree mark in parts of the national capital today while some areas in the city witnessed rainfall.
The Safdarjung observatory, recording of which is considered official for the city, registered a high of 36.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below the normal, a MeT department official said.
Areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar observatories recorded maximum temperatures of 39.7 degrees Celsius, 35 degrees Celsius, 35.8 degrees Celsius and 37.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
The minimum temperature in the city was 22.5 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average.
Rainfall recorded during past 24 hours till 8:30 am was 11.9 mm.
Humidity levels oscillated between 87 per cent and 45 per cent.
The MeT office has forecast overcast conditions along with rain and thunderstorms for tomorrow while the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 37 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 40.5 degrees Celsius and 29.3 degrees Celsius respectively.
