Rains in Uttar Pradesh

Rains or thundershowers occurred at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh today and day temperatures fell in many divisions of the state.
Isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh witnessed heavy rains or thundershowers.
Met office here said the chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms were Gorakhpur-4, Basti and Meerut-2 each, and Varanasi and Muzaffarnagar-1 each.
Day temperatures fell markedly in Bareilly division; fell appreciably in Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow and Jhansi divisions, fell in Gorakhpur and Varanasi divisions and changed in the remaining divisions of the state.
They were markedly below normal in Kanpur and Jhansi divisions, appreciably below normal in Allahabad and Bareilly divisions and were normal in the remaining divisions of the state.

Highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Lakhimpur Kheri at 42.4 degree Celsius.
The MeT office forecast that the weather would be mainly dry over the state.
