Monsoon remained active in Eastern parts of the state.

Shubham (4) and Tanu (6) drowned in Ghaghra near Hajipur village.

Meanwhile, a report from Faizabad said Saryu and Ghaghra rivers were maintaining a rising trend, and the water of these rivers has created many breaches at the banks submerging acres of farm land.

During the last two days, about a dozen houses in several villages on the river banks in Barabanki district have been reported to be washed away, this was in addition to about half-a-dozen houses that have been submerged in river water in Faizabad.

Hasanpur got 25 cm rain, Birdghat 16 cm, Hata 15 cm, Regoli 14 cm, Baheri and Saharanpur 13 cm each.

Neemsar and Bansgaon recorded 11 cm rain each; Dhampur, Balrampur and Bilari had 10 cms; Bareilly, Mawana 9 cm each.

A senior administrative officer while talking to PTI, told, "the two rivers Ghaghra and Saryu were never flooded due to rains in the area, the main reason behind it is the release of water from Nepal's Bambasa and Girijapuri dams after regular interval of times, that overflowed Ghaghra, the main river of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and its other sister rivers."

Continuing heavy rains in the mountains of Uttarakhand and Nepal have also flooded the major rivers of Eastern Uttar Pradesh
