Rains lash Kolhapur for 5th consecutive day, dams fill up

Medium to heavy rains disrupted normal life in the district as the downpour continued for the fifth consecutive day here today, filling the small dams almost to capacity, officials said.
Radhanagari dam was full up to its storage capacity and discharging 3,628 cusecs water per second, while the water level in Panchaganga river near Kolhapur city was at 37 feet this morning, just two feet below the danger mark, officials said.
The water storage in major dams as of today is - Radhanagari 8.25 TMC (its capacity is 8.36 TMC), Warana 29.56 TMC (capacity is 34.39 TMC), Dudhaganga 15.19 TMC (capacity is 25.39 TMC) and Tulashi 2.46 TMC (capacity is 3.47 TMC).
Chandagad taluka received 83.83 mm rains, followed by Radhanagari 69.50 mm, Aajara 69.25 mm, Gaganbawada 69 mm, Panhala 68.71 mm, among others.
