Rains offer respite for Delhiites

Early morning rains brought some relief to Delhiites today even as the mercury continued to hover around the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
The city received 26.4 mm rainfall till 5.30 PM today and the MeT department has predicted a partly cloudy sky for the remainder of the day.
While the day's maximum temperature at Safdarjung observatory, considered the official reading of the city, settled at 38.0 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal the temperature at Palam observatory registered at 40.6 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperature at Ayanagar observatory was recorded at 39.4 degrees Celsius while at Ridge it was pegged at 40.2 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was recorded five notches below normal, at 23.5 degrees Celsius.
The humidity level oscillated between 96 and 43 per cent.
The weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky for tomorrow said.
The maximum and minimum temperature is forecast at 40 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
Yesterday, the maximum was recorded at 38.1 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled at 25.3 degrees Celsius.
