Rains, strong winds lash Jharkhand districts

Rains and strong winds in the aftermath of Cyclone 'Phailin' damaged houses and uprooted trees and electric poles in three districts of Jharkhand today, but no casualty was reported so far.
Trees were uprooted in Latehar, Gumla and Hazaribagh districts, while power remained snapped in many districts since morning, according to reports.
Dumka Deputy Commissioner Harsh Mangla said the storm damaged 30 houses in Jermundi block and relief materials like plastic sheets, candles and rice were being provided to the affected people.
Shikaripara Block Development Officer Abid Hussain said roof of 56 houses were blown away in Bhilaipani village.
Raneshwar Block Development Officer Gautam Bhagat said roof of eleven houses in Agar village were also blown away in Dumka district as relief materials were being provided.
Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Vinay Choubey said some trees and electric poles were uprooted in the district.
Intermittent rainfall was experienced in the Santhal Parganas region.
A spokesman at the MeT Office here said Bokaro has received 156 mm rainfall and Ranchi 117.2 mm since yesterday.
