Rains to continue in southern states tomorrow

As the northeast monsoon remained active bringing in good rainfall in southern states, the Met office today forecast rain or thundershower in different places in the region tomorrow under its influence.
"Rainfall occurred at most places over South interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, at many places over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Rayalaseema and Kerala," the Regional Meteorological Department said.
Isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and North interior Karnataka, it added.
Uthiramerur and Sriperumbudur (both Kancheepuram district) and Thamaraipakkam (Tiruvallur) received the highest rainfall of 9 cm each in Tamil Nadu in the last 24 hours ended at 8.30 am today.
In Karnataka, Davanagere received 10 cm while Channapatna (Ramnagara dt) recorded 9 cm.
Irikkur (Kannur dt) 7 and Mananthavady (Wayanad) 5 topped the rainfall statistics in Kerala.

In Andhra Pradesh, Udayagiri (Nellore) received 10 cm rainfall while Gummagatta (Anantapur) recorded 9 cm, the weather office said.
" Rain or thundershower would occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala. Isolated rain or thunder shower may occur over Lakshadweep, Coastal and South interior Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh," it said.
Dry weather will prevail over North Interior Karnataka and Telangana.
