Raj Assembly passes Rajasthan Civil Courts Amendment Bill

Rajasthan Assembly today passed an amendment bill related to pecuniary jurisdiction and new nomenclature of civil courts and posts.
Defending the Bill, "The Rajasthan Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2014," Parliamentary Minister R S Rathor said with new amendments the civil judge would be able to hear cases of property dispute up to Rs two lakh while a senior judge cases up to Rs five lakh.
"More than two decades have passed after last amendment in the Rajasthan Civil Courts Ordinance, 1950 regarding pecuniary jurisdiction. The pecuniary jurisdiction assigned to the civil courts requires a revisit. Also, the present nomenclature of the civil courts or posts requires to be replaced," Rathore said while stating the objects and reasons of the Bill.
He further said that the Rajasthan High Court in its full court meeting in April had considered both the matters, therefore, the state government in pursuance with the HC resolution, made amendments in the relevant provisions of the Rajasthan Civil Courts Ordinance, 1950.
On the demand of Opposition MLAs, the minister said that the government would try to mediate and try to end the ongoing strike of advocates in the state for the last 24 days.
Later, the House was adjourned sine die after passing two bills and a brief debate on drought.
Speaker Kailash Meghwal announced the adjournment sine die after day's business ended.
The Budget session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly began on July 11 and 17 sittings were held.
