Rajasthan is all set to introduce free medical testing scheme on World Health Day in all medical colleges, district, sub district and satellite hospitals in the state.
In the first phase beginning on April 7, 57 types of basic medical testing will be made free in medical colleges whereas 44 types of testing will be free in district, sub district and satellite hospitals, an official said today.
"Second phase of the ambitious scheme will begin from July 1 with 28 free tests in community heath centres and in the third phase, from August 15, all the dispensaries and primary health centres will offer 15 types of free tests," Principal Secretary (Medical) Deepak Upreti said.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced the scheme in the state budget 2013-14.
Upreti said that all the officials of the department at the district level have been directed to make adequate arrangements to ensure successful implementation of the scheme.
"Preparations are being reviewed for implementation of the scheme and officials have been asked to make proper arrangements," he said.
It is another ambitious scheme in medical sector in the state after free generic medicines scheme which was introduced in October 2011, Upreti said.
