Raj Govt to prepare roadmap for organ donation

The state government today announced that it will prepare an exclusive road map to monitor the organs or cadaver transplants by developing an institute for organ transplant and creating awareness among the mass.
Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister RS Rathor and transplant surgeon Christopher Berry today announced here that an Institute of Organ Transplant would be developed at Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Hospital in which the facilities for kidney, liver, bone, skin and cadaver transplants would be made.
An exclusive roadmap for human organs' transplant in which Registry Cell, Appropriate Authority and Advisory Committee would be set up, the minister said.
They also announced that a 'Brain Death Certificate Committee' to certify brain deaths would be set up in all medical colleges in the state.
About 10,000 people were dying every year in Rajasthan after mishaps, and of which 60 per cent used to die of brain death, he said, adding the transplant of human organs specially of eyes, heart, lungs, pancreas, liver, kidney, intestine, bone, cartiledges from brain dead people could save live of many others, the doctor added.
Berry would be available for six months in Jaipur for assisting the medical fraternity on this very subject, Minister said, adding the experts would also provide training to doctors and technicians.
A public awareness was also required on a massive scale so that people could understand the importance of organ donation and transplantation, Berry said.
