Raj introduces free medical tests scheme

Rajasthan government today, on the occasion of World Health Day, introduced a free essential diagnostic tests scheme in government hospitals in the state.
Medical college hospitals, district hospitals, sub divisional hospitals and satellite hospitals across the state have been covered in the first phase of the 'Mukhyamantri Nishulk Janch Yojna', a government official said.
14 tests of clinical pathology, 3 of urine analysis, 1 stool analysis, 11 microbiology, 25 bio chemistry, 1 in cardiology and 2 in radiology have been made free in medical college and attached hospitals, he said.
These medical investigations include ECG, X-ray, blood sugar, blood urea, Hb, urine complete test among others.
In district, sub district and satellite hospitals, 44 types of tests have been made available, he said.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had yesterday announced that the scheme would be launched in the state today.

Second phase of the scheme, which is scheduled to be introduced on Doctor's Day on July 1, will cover Community Health Centres and will offer 28 types of free tests and in the third and the last phase, from August 15, 15 types of tests will be made free at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and dispensaries.
The official said that sufficient fund provisions were made for the purchase of necessary equipments and consumables well before the launch of the scheme.
"Manpower was also rationalised so that the staff is in position to manage the tests and reports in hospitals which are covered in the phase," he added.
