"A total of 777 candidates who were elected as sarpanch for zila parishad and panchayat samiti members allegedly submitted fake marksheets at the time of filing nominations," state Panchayati Raj Minister Surendra Goyal told PTI.
"777 complaints have been made in all the districts and 479 FIRs have been registered so far in connection of those complaints," Goyal said.
Divisional commissioners are probing remaining complaints and cases would also be registered in those remaining complaints also, if required, he said.
Goyal said the action against those found guilty will be taken as per the law. If any public representative would be sent in police custody for more than 24 hours, he or she will be suspended.
