Raj minister visits rain-affected villages

Rajasthan Road and Transport Minister Babulal Verma visited rain-affected villages and assured adequate relief to farmers whose crops were destroyed in the unseasonal rains in the state.
Yesterday, while speaking to rain-hit farmers Verma assured them of adequate and immediate relief and said survey work over the damaged crops would be completed by March 25 while relief amount would also be paid before April 20.
The relief amount would also be given for the cattle killed and for reconstruction of the houses which collapsed in the calamity, he said.
Secretary disaster management cell Rohit Kumar also visited the rain-affected villages of Bundi and held a meeting with officials at district headquarters, instructing them to complete the survey work on damaged crops as soon as possible.
Farmers suffering more than 50 percent crop damage would be exempted from paying electric bills for four months, the secretary told.
Farmers would be given Rs 16,400 for the death of milk-giving cattle but the amount would not exceed Rs 1.25 lakh. Rs 10,000 would be given for the death of non-milk providing cattle, he added.

Rs 3 lakh compensation would be given to the kin of those killed in the rain-related mishaps, he said.
Three farmers died of cardiac arrest in Hadouti region, apparently after their crops were damaged by the unseasonal rains.
Ramratan Nath (50), a farmer from Singola village of Baran district was admitted at community health centre (CHC) Manglrol on Monday after suffering cardiac arrest and died during treatment, Umesh Vijay of Mangrol CHC said.
Laxminarayan Jat (65), resident of Ishwarnagar village of Baran district also died of cardiac arrest, Vijay added.
Mahiveer Meena (26), a farmer from Chitawa village of Bundi district died of cardiac arrest yesterday at community health centre Talera, CHC in-charge Mohanlal Verma said.
