Raj receives excess rainfall this monsoon

Barring one district, the desert state of Rajasthan has witnessed excess rainfall during monsoon this year so far.
The state, according to Water Resources department, as a whole has recorded 516.36 mm rains against the average rainfall of 357.69 thus registering an excess of 44.36 per cent till July 16.
Barring Sirohi, which has a rain deficit of 39 per cent; all the districts have received normal or above normal rains.
Barmer and Jaisalmer are among seven districts which have recorded abnormal (60 per cent or more) rains.
Jodhpur, Kota, Baran, Jhalawar and Pratapgarh are other districts to receive abnormal rains.
Nineteen districts, including the state capital Jaipur recorded excess showers (in the range of 20 to 59 per cent more than normal) while six other districts recorded normal rainfall.
