Raj: Situation in heavy rainfall affected areas improves

The situation is improving in heavy rainfall affected areas of Rajasthan as water has started receding, an official said.
No death has been reported today and no rescue operation was carried out, state disaster management and relief secretary Hemant Gera said.
Since the onset of monsoon 53 persons have died due to natural calamities in the state, including 36 who were either swept away or had drowned, 14 were killed in lightening related incidents and three died due to building collapse, he said.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 1.24 crore as compensation for the family members of 31 persons, who lost their lives due to floods, Gera said.
He said Rs 7 lakh is being provided as compensation, including Rs 4 lakh from state disaster management and relief department, Rs 2 lakh from the PM Relief Fund and Rs 1 lakh from CM Relief fund.
Meanwhile, in last 24 hours, heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Jaipur and Bikaner divisions.

Light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places in Jaipur and Bikaner divisions, at a few places in Udaipur division, and at isolated places in Kota, Bharatpur, Ajmer and Jodhpur divisions of the state, the MeT department said.
Kishngarhwas recorded 8cm rainfall followed by 7 cm each in Nimarana, Kotkasim, Churu Tehsil, Churu, Taranagar and Reni; 6 cm each in Lalsot, Shahpura (Jaipur), Sriganganagar Tehsil and 5 cm each in Bhuhana, Viratnagar, Rajgarh and Sadulpur.
Various places recorded 1 to 4 cm rainfall during the period.
The state disaster management and relief control room said till 2 pm today, Alwar and Kota recorded 25 mm rainfall.
Jalore District Collector L N Soni said relief operation is on full-swing and nearly 4 tonne of food material was supplied in heavy-rainfall affected areas.
Food material and other important items were supplied through IAF choppers, he said.
