In the wake of sexual exploitation cases in shelter homes in Muzaffarpur and Deoria, the Rajasthan government today set up a special team to monitor all child care centres in the state.

The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Arun Chaturvedi today.

The state-level task force will monitor all such centres by August 30 and submit a report to the state government, Chaturvedi said.

Nearly 4,000 children are living in 100 children homes in the state, Additional Chief Secretary J C Mohanty said.

A Child Welfare Committee and officials of other department will conduct the inspection in the supervision of collectors in districts. The team members will talk to children and if any irregularity is found, necessary action will be taken, he said.

Chaturvedi said a detailed guideline will be prepared for day care centres, ashrams, hostels etc.

Director of the department Samit Sharma, additional director Shruti Bharadwaj and officials from the police, law, labour and the Health Department were also present at the meeting.
