Rajasthan holds IT fest to develop apps on state schemes

Around 800 experts and students are taking part in a two-day IT event here that aims to provide a platform for entrepreneurs and startups, and develop apps for state flagship schemes.
The event, DIGIFEST 2017, organised by Rajasthan Information and Technology Department, was kicked off today with 'Hackathon 2.0' event where about 800 IT experts, coders and students displayed their innovations, according a release.
The participants are set to develop applications on state government flagship schemes like Bhamasha Yojana, E-mitra, Internet offing, blog chain and artificial intelligence and make the presentation of the same within 24 hours.
The developers of top three applications would be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs 7.50 lakh besides several other consolation prizes for top performers.
The participants are working on mobile applications like smart dustbin and parking solution.
A team from IIT Roorkee is working on a mobile app that would enable the women to use their Bhamasha cards as debit cards, the release said.
Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje is scheduled to address the participants in a session tomorrow.
