Rajasthan receives 33.96% excess rain

Rajasthan has recorded around 34 per cent more rainfall than the average between June and September, Meteorological Department said today.
The desert state recorded 705.11mm rainfall against an average of 526.35mm, 33.96 per cent more, with 17 of its 33 districts receiving rains above normal from June 1 to September 26, MeT officials said.
Normal rainfall was recorded in 13 districts, above normal in two and deficit in one. No district had scanty rainfall, officials added.
Chittorgarh and Pali received above normal rainfall (60 per cent or more) while Sriganganagar recorded deficit rainfall (-20 per cent to -59 per cent).

Districts with excess rainfall (20 per cent to 59 percent) include Ajmer, Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Churu, Dausa, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawaimadhopur, Tonk and Udaipur.
While Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Dholpur, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Karauli, Kota, Sikar and Sirohi received normal rainfall (19 per cent to -19 per cent).
Meanwhile, of the 822 dams in Rajasthan 423 are full, 219 are partially filled and the 180 are empty, they added.
