Rajasthan shivers; Mount Abu records season's lowest

Icy winds further aggravated cold conditions across Rajasthan affecting normal life and disrupting rail and road traffic even as Mount Abu experienced season's lowest temperature of minus two degree Celsius.
Mount Abu experienced season's lowest temperature of minus 2 degree Celsius last night, about 7 degrees below normal, while Churu in the plains was near freezing point with 1.3 degrees Celsius, a MeT official said.
Six passengers trains of North Western Railway were running late by one to seven hours due to fog and mist in adjoining states of Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, the PRO said.
With severe cold wave sweeping north-west of the state, mercury in Jaipur further plummeted to 5.6 degree C last night with no respite from misty weather in forenoon.
Meanwhile, Sriganganagar city recorded a minimum of 3.3 degree C followed by Chittorgarh 4, Pilani 4.1, Bikaner 4.6, Jaisalmer 4.8, Udaipur 5.5, Barmer 6.4, Kota 8.8 degree C respectively.
No let up in the cold wave conditions is expected in the state in next 24 hours, a forecast said.
