Rajasthan to open 'petroleum university'

The Rajasthan Cabinet today approved setting up a "Petroleum University" to make available manpower and technical know how in view of upcoming Petroleum Refinery and Petro-chemicals Complex at Pachpadra.
The Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also decided to extend a "special customised package" for Textile Industry, an official spokesman said here.
The Cabinet endorsed to open one more Technical University at Kota to reduce the pressure on existing Rajasthan Technical University there, the spokesman said.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved setting up of a Rajasthan Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation for providing credit (loan) to self-help group.
The state government would provide a loan to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore for women and self-help group, he said.
The state government would keep option for setting up petroleum university on PPP mode in which the private and government can make investment, he said.
Under special customised package-2013 plan, the textile industry would attract huge investment and provide employment opportunities, he said, adding the state expected an investment of Rs 10,000 crore in next seven years.
Meritorious school students would be provided laptop from July 25 by the ministers in respective districts, the Cabinet directed.
