Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said that it was challenging for the governments to provide basic amentities in view of huge shift of population towards urban areas and highlighted importance of public private partnership in fulfilling the requirements.
Addressing the concluding session of the two day workshop on Urban Transformation, Raje said that there was a need of out-of-the-box thinking for urban development.
"Population of big cities is increasing rapidly as huge shift of population towards urban areas has been witnessed. In such circumstances, it is challenging for the governments to provide basic amentities to the urban population. To develop facilities for urban areas in a time bound manner, we have to work in a planned manner taking help of the private sector," she said.
"We have to think out of the box and set new dimensions by adopting innovative and new ideas," she said.
The Chief Minister also said that in the next four years, projects of urban development should be on ground in reality.
In the concluding session, experts and government officials informed that the deliberations during this two day workshop focused especially on how private sector along with the government can contribute in creating common platform for infrastructure development in urban areas especially big cities.
