Ahead of the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today met senior executives of banks to review the participation and progress the lenders have made in financial initiatives of the government.
Raje said proactive action from the banks is required for holistic development of the state and suggested them (banks) to increase the number of e-Mitra kiosks from present 6,000 to over 20,000.
She also said that an ATM should be set up at every Gram Panchayat level.
"Rajasthan is on a road to holistic development. However, there remain certain areas where we require further proactive action from the banking sector. Together, we should plan to increase the number of e-Mitra kiosks and work to establish at least one ATM at every Gram Panchayat," Raje said in the meet.
She added that the state government was ready to share the upfront cost of installation, connectivity and providing premises for setting up ATMs, either at the Atal Seva Kendra or any other government building.
The meeting was attended by senior representatives from SBI, HDFC, ICICI, PNB, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, NABARD, Rajasthan Marudhara Gramin Bank, Rajasthan State Cooperative Bank and National Payments Council.
The representatives committed enhanced participation of the banks towards the implementation of the governments' schemes.
The banks also committed expanding their coverage in the state through new branches and ATMs.
