Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot today accused Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje of giving priority to her 'Gaurav Yatra' instead of addressing the crucial issue of farmers' suicides.

The fresh attack by the AICC General Secretary comes after a 36-year-old farmer Mangalram Meghwal allegedly committed suicide in the state's Nagaur district on Saturday.

Farmers in state are committing suicide and Raje is carrying out Gaurav Yatra," Gehlot said a day after terming the chief minister's rally her vidai (farewell) yatra.

"Most heart wrenching to know that one more farmer ended his life in Nagaur due to debt burden. The BJP government has totally failed in providing any relief to the farmers, the former chief minister tweeted.

He further said, the suicide of Meghwal was a matter of "huge shame" for the state government which has failed to curtail the unabated suicides by farmers.

Meghwal had taken a loan of Rs 2.98 lakh from the bank and had repaid Rs 1.75 lakh to them. Expecting the balance to be written off under the state government's loan waiver scheme, he received a seizure notice from the bank instead.

After arriving in Jodhpur on Sunday, Gehlot had said that without doing any work, the chief minister was taking out a 'Gaurav Yatra' which was a "joke" and a "waste of public money".

Taking a dig at Raje for allegedly asking voters to re-elect BJP else the development work will stop in the state, Gehlot said, You go to Gwalior forever, (development) work will never stop.

On his second day in Jodhpur on Monday, a large crowd gathered to meet Gehlot at circuit house.
