Ace designer Rajesh Pratap Singh kick-started the Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) with a hospital-themed collection with models dressed as patients and nurses.
"This collection has been inspired by my experiences from the past. It is about health workers and hospitals. Hospital is a place where we come from and where we finish off. That was the idea behind the clothes," Singh told reporters after the show.
The autumn-winter line was made dramatic by the live performance by music masters Grain, Karsh Kale and Ankur Tiwari.
Models glided down the ramp dramatically enacting the role of patients and nurses. Some even broke into an impromptu jig on the runway surprising the audience.
The ramp was given a makeover of a hospital dormitory with beds and drips adorning it, which further added to the ambiance and the clothes.
The primary fabrics used were ikat, neon, leather, wool in checks, geometric stripes and polka dots.
The silhouettes ranged from knee length pleated skirts, blouses, maxi dresses, jumpsuits, sheath dresses, to structured long and short jackets and hooded sweat shirts. Built up necklines and boat necks were prominent in almost all the garments.
The bold lips, bespectacled look, clean tied-up hair and minimal make-up accentuated the collection. The colour palate was minimalist as the designer stuck to the autumn-winter favourite black and white.
