Addressing the silver jubilee celebration of government medical college, Chandigarh, Singh said just 1.6 per cent of GDP is being spent in primary health care of India which is less than that of all BRICS nations.
"For core health care, we have to improve primary health care. We have to improve the spending," he said.
The Home Minister said all doctors have to dedicate themselves with empathy, honesty, compassion and steadfastness as these are expected from them.
Singh said cleanliness is another major factor to stay away from diseases along with the facility of clean drinking water.
The Home Minister also asserted that the NDA government will clean the entire river Ganga by 2019.
"This is our firm conviction," he said.
