"I had referred to the fact that State Bank of Sikkim (SBS) does not come under Banking Regulation Act, 1949 due to the special rights and status enjoyed by the Sikkimese people under Article 371(F) of the Constitution and Mr Rajnath Singh has responded positively," Chamling told reporters here.
He claimed that Rajnath had consequently sent a letter to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley where he referred to Sikkim's contention about SBS enjoying constitutional protection by virtue of Article 371(F) of the Constitution of India and urge RBI to keep that in mind.
"I am extremely grateful for the stand taken by the Home Minister in upholding the sanctity and status of SBS, guaranteed under Article 371(F) of the Constitution. And I take this opportunity to appeal to all of you to stay away from rumours being spread by unmindful individuals, lacking in depth and judgement," he said.
