Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today took part in an event to mark the International Yoga Day, leading hundreds of people at the Raj Bhawan here in performing asanas.
They were accompanied by other leaders of the state as they performed yogic exercises, leading yoga enthusiasts during the fourth edition of the International Yoga Day.
Speaking after the function, the chief minister recalled the contribution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in helping yoga gain international recognition.
"Today 190 countries have got connected with yoga programmes... credit should be given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.
Programmes to mark the day were organised at 10 places in the state capital, all 75 district headquarters, 350 tehsil headquarters, 823 block headquarters and 653 nagar nikay, the chief minister said.
He also stressed on the benefits of practising yoga.

Rajnath Singh, who is also the Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, credited Prime Minister Modi for the international recognition accorded to yoga.
Several state ministers, bureaucrats and police officers, eminent citizens and others performed asanas at the Raj Bhawan on the occasion.
Several ministers of the Yogi government took part in the programmes organised in other districts all over the state.
