The Ramakrishna Mission has been entrusted by the West Bengal government to run the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) for tribals in Jhargram.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting at the state secretariat, a state minister said.
EMRS was so far being run by the backward classes welfare department for providing quality education to scheduled tribes boys and girls from Class VI to XII.
Both the students' hostel and the school would now be run by the Belur-based Mission.
