"The SDRF has been raised in the state for rescue and relief operation at the time of disasters (natural or man-made) on the similar lines of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Its training centre was today inaugurated at village Barni (Parsada) of the Bilaspur district," an official said.
At the event, Singh dedicated hostels, administrative building and barracks constructed at the cost of Rs 2.10 crore for the training centre.
The CM congratulated SDRF personnel on the occasion and said the facility was a long-felt need which has been fulfilled now.
Home Guard jawans and civil security organisations' personnel will be trained in tackling natural disasters like fire besides carrying out relief and rescue works at the time of exigencies.
Common citizens will also be able to get training at the institute, the official said.
The training will be imparted for responding in 22 different kinds of accidents, he said, adding personnel at division level in five separate groups will be trained on rotation basis.
