Ramanathan beats Stefan in ITF Men's Futures tennis tourney
Press Trust of India Coimbatore Indian Davis Cupper Ram Kumar Ramanathan won his first round singles match against a fighting Australian Stefan Vujic 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 in the LMW ITF Men's Futures tennis tournament here today.
Ram Kumar dominated the first set but the Aussie qualifier made amends to his first set errors and found his line to put up a strong challenge to neutralise the scoreline.
However, Stefan ran out of steam and developed cramps at the seventh game after being on equal terms at 3-all.
Even after having a 90-seconds assistance from Physio, Stefan was found wanting in his movements on court. The Aussie tried to carry on but was broken in the 8th game and lost the match.
