A bench of Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice Jayant Nath asked DPCB and also the Commissioner of Police to take a decision on the representation given by the petitioner Abdul Ghaffar Khan, a resident of Beriwala Bagh in Azad Market, within four months time.
The court also asked Khan to place the representation along with the court order before the authorities within 15 days.
"....The petitioner is granted liberty to make a fresh representation to the Delhi police and also DPCC in 15 days for their consideration. The authorities are directed to complete the exercise in four months," the order said.
In the petition, Khan cited several key protests including the 13-day-long Anna Hazare movement and said, "The residents of nearby areas of Ramlila Maidan are suffering from noise pollution due to frequent use of high volume of sound instruments and also the slogans shouted by the protesters.
