Lok Janshakti Party president Ramvilas Paswan filed his nomination from Hajipur Lok Sabha seat and launched a scathing attack on the Congress for “humiliating” minority muslims.
Hajipur(SC) will go to the polls on May 7 and Paswan will face sitting JD(U) MP Ramsundar Das and Sanjeev Prasad Tony of Congress in the poll fight.
Later addressing a rally at Hajipur attended by senior state leaders of BJP and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party chief Upendra Kushwaha, Paswan launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Defending Narendra Modi, the LJP chief wondered at the rationale behind the verbal attacks on him on Godhra riots time and again when the court had given him a clean chit.
Referring to the Congress role in these attacks, he asked "Why don't they (Congress) talk about Bhagalpur riots or anti-Sikh riots of 1984?"
He also took a potshot at Kumar and said it was he who parted with BJP after being in alliance with it for long 17 years and was now trying to 'play the martyr'.
"Why did you (Kumar) not resign as NDA minister when 2002 riots had taken place in Gujarat?" he asked Kumar.
Kumar, he said, was trying to use special category status issue as a political weapon and Modi has already said that his future government would provide special package and status to Bihar.
Senior BJP leaders Sushil Kumar Modi, C P Thakur, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha addressed the rally and sought support for Paswan.
