The National Conference (NC) today hailed the state cabinet's recommendation to the Centre for sanctioning a Rs 607.77 crore rehabilitation package for the earthquake-hit people of Chenab Valley.
Interacting with the quake-hit people and addressing public gatherings at Dali, Ponda and Shiva in Doda district, NC provincial president Devender Singh Rana today hoped that the recommendation will help in understanding the overall picture of Chenab Valley.
Collective efforts of the state government and Union Ministers Dr Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad have succeeded in drawing the Centre's attention to the gravity of the situation in quake-hit areas, he said.
District, block and panchayat units of NC in the three districts of the Chenab Valley have been converted into relief committees and party workers have been asked to assume the role of social workers, Rana added.
