After the arrest of two Bangladeshi nationals for their alleged involvement in the nun gangrape case, BJP National Secretary Siddharth Nath Singh today said the case has corroborated the party's view about the menance of Bangladeshi infiltration in West Bengal.
Singh also said that the Mamata Banerjee government should "come out of its slumber" and take steps to stop Bangladeshi infiltration here.
"The Ranaghat case is an example that vindicates our stand on Bangladeshi infiltration. What kind of lawlessness that this Bangladeshi infiltration has created, this horrific incident proves that. But unfortunately parties like Congress and Trinamool Congress use it (infiltration) for vote-bank politics," Singh said.
"Bangladeshi infiltration is not only creating lawlessness but is also having an adverse impact on Indian economy," Singh said.
CID has arrested two persons, both Bangladeshi nationals, one from Habra in North 24 Parganas district and the other from Mumbai, in connection with the gangrape of a 71-year-old nun at a convent school in Ranaghat that sparked a nationwide outrage.
West Bengal figured prominently on the terror map in 2014 after a deep-rooted module of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh(JMB) was unearthed in the state following the October 2 Burdwan blast in which two suspected terrorists were killed.
