Rangasamy unfurls tricolour

Puducherry celebrated the Republic Day with Chief Minister N Rangasamy unfurling the tricolour and giving away awards to police personnel.
After inspecting a guard of honour presented by Puducherry police, the Chief Minister took salute at the march past by contingents of the Police, Home Guards, Ex-Service, students of government and private schools, the French government run Higher secondary school Lycee Francaise, NSS, and scouts and guides, among others.
Rangasamy gave Lt Governor's police medal for excellent performance to Sub-Inspector P K Sajith and the Special Grade Head Constable S Ashok Kumar.
Rangasamy handed over a cash award of Rs one lakh to the management of the Puducherry government run Anandarangapillai Government Special School for differently-abled children which recorded cent per cent pass in the SSLC public exam in March 2014.
Chief Secretary Chetan B Sanghi announced that the President's Police Medal for meritorious performance had been awarded to Superintendent of Police (Rural) V Deivasigamani and Head Constable in Police Training School Venkateswara Rao.
Tableaux highlighting the achievements were presented by various departments and government run public sector undertakings at the celebrations.
Cultural programmes were presented by school students focussng on the spirit of patriotism.
The Chief Minister unfurled the national flag in the premises of the Assembly later.
