Range of traditional cool drinks at Sharbat Mela

With long hot days stretched out in front of them, people are finding temporary respite from the sun with a range of traditional cool drinks.
Dilli Haat INA in association with Delhi Tourism is currently hosting its annual three-day Sharbat Mela over the weekend here. The mela, has on offer a variety of quenchers from different parts of the country.
Ethic drinks from Bihar both in sweet and salty are being available, alongside there are a variety of drinks like Thandai, Lassi, jaljeera, Mago Shake, Aam Panna, Kokam coupled with the easily available Chuski, Kulfi, Faluda, Cold Coffee, icecreams and fresh fruit juices.
Well-known brand Rooh Afza offering Rose Sharbhat has dropped its prices to woo customers and is selling a bottle of rose syrup at 110 instead the market price of 125.
Another brand Hitkary has a variety of syrups like orange, mango, pineapple, shahi kewda, lichi, jamun, kaala khatta and an exclusive type of sandal wood syrup.
Badam or Almonds seem to be popular among customers with the three types of Badam syrups being the most favoured product. The syrups made only with milk gives customers a chance to continue drinking the boring milk even in summers but with a twist.
"We have a variety of syrups including Badam which is of three types. One is the Brahmi Badam makes the mind cool, Shahi badam has a flavor of elaichi in it and the normal Kesar Badam which is common to all the households," says Nitin Suri, owner of the Hitkary stall.

Mom's favourite cooler lemonade has been devised into two different varieties namely Lemon Twist and Masala twist with a tinge of tangy masala in it.
"We have two types of lemonade but our specialty is the 'Sharbat-e-Fida' which is a mixture of five ingredients. It is made of Sandalwood oil, silver leaves, Kewda, Sankpukshi and Brahmi and changes colour when mixed with water. The colour changes from red to yellow and we have also dropped the price for our customers," says Suri.
Apart from water centric drinks, healthy, instant and ready to make drinks with milk are also available in flavours like butterscotch, strawberry, vanilla, Kesar Pista, chocolate, Thandai and Badam.
