The forest department is likely to introduce the booklet by December, 2012. It will provide information like the names of the tigers in the park, their weight, age and pictures, official sources said.

"It will be a reasonably priced booklet and one of its kind initiative. It will be ready in the coming days," they said.

So far, visitors were solely dependant on tourist guides for information on the big cats they came across during safaris.

"When the tourists will have the booklet in their hand, they will be able to rightly recognise the big cats with the help of both booklet and the guide and get more detailed information," the sources said.

One of the popular tiger reserves of the country, Ranthambhore has 27 adult tigers and 25 cubs. It is home to big cats famous among tourists including 'Machali,' also known as 'Lady of the Lake.'

The park is located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan and covers an area of approximately 500 sq kms.
