Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh today said he is proud of ace shuttler P V Sindhu's performance at the Rio Olympics and hopes she will clinch the gold medal in the women's singles summit clash of the sports event.
"We all are so proud. Every person in this nation who is following Olympics is so proud of all the girls who have done so well. P V Sindhu will be playing world number today. It's a tough match today. The entire country is with her. Hope she will get gold for us," Ranveer said at an event here.
The shuttler from Hyderabad will take Carolina Marin of Spain in the gold medal match this evening.
On the good performance of Indian women athletes at the ongoing Olympics, filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who was also present at the event, termed it as women power.
"We all will watch the match today," he added.
Yesterday, Sindhu defeated her short-statured, third-seeded Japanese rival, the current All England champion, 21-19 21-10 in 49 minutes with superb, attacking play.
