The state was put on high alert since the murder of the Ranvir Sena supremo yesterday and Director General of Police Abhayanand and senior police officials met here this morning and reviewed the situation arising out of the killing, official sources said.

Police patrolling intensified in Ara town, while heavy security bandobast was in place in Bhojpur district to meet any eventuality, the sources said.

A minor trouble broke out when Bihar BJP president C P Thakur and a few BJP MLAs went to Bihta, where the procession stopped, to pay floral tributes to Singh, the sources said.

A few persons in the procession misbehaved with Thakur and pulled him out of his vehicle at Bihta.

They also threw stones on Thakur's car and Bikram MLA Anil Kumar was reported to have been injured in the stone-throwing, the sources said adding a police vehicle and some media cars were also damaged in the stone-pelting.

The procession had stopped at Bihta, Danapur and Saguna More and blocked busy Bailey road here for some time.
