A local court has issued orders to suspended IAS officer B B Mohanty, who is evading arrest in a rape case, to appear before it before June 18.
In a fresh proceeding under section 82 of the CrPC initiated recently, the court has given time to Mohanty to appear before June 18.
If he fails to appear by the given time period, further proceedings to declare him proclaimed offender will be initiated by the court.
Announcement to this effect as per the direction of the court has been passed at the residences of Mohanty in Odisha and Jaipur, according to an official release by Jaipur police.
An FIR against Mohanty was lodged in January this year by a 22-year-old civil service aspirant who alleged that Mohanty raped and exploited her on the promise of helping her clear the IAS examinations.
The state government suspended Additional Chief Secretary rank official Mohanty, who was then posted as Chairman of the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal over allegation of sexual exploitation in February.
