A direct bus service that would connect key destinations in Uttar Pradesh as well as some in neighbouring states was launched here today.
The 'Rapid Line' bus service, launched by UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), was inaugurated by ruling Samajwadi Party leader and Siwalkhas MLA Haji Gulham Mohammad at Meerut's Vaishali bust stand.
"Under this service, eight buses from Meerut would ply from 8 AM and return by 4 PM," Regional Manager of UPSRTC, Meerut, Manoj Kumar Pundir said.
He added that the fares in this bus service would be same as in other ordinary buses.
The service has been launched on routes from Meerut to Ambala, Noida, Agra, Haldwani, Bareilly, Siana, Garh and Rishikesh, he said.
Other than these, two buses will ply from Garhmukteshwar bus stand to Siana, Agra, Meerut and Rishikesh.
UPSRTC officials said the foremen at the bus depots concerned will be deployed at crucial junctions to prevent any breakdowns in the buses and to ensure hassle-free service.
