The patient, S Ali, was suffering from severe pain in the left leg for a few months. The cause of the problem could not be identified although he had consulted many doctors in oman.
He came to India and met Dr Manoj P Nair, Lead Senior Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon at Aster Medcity.
Dr Nair examined Ali and found him to be suffering from Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (abnormal and dilatation of the main blood vessel in the human body).The pain in the leg was caused by the progressive reduction in blood flow to his left leg. The complexity of the ailment was such that this big blood vessel could break open and burst anytime,he told reporters here.
The total cost of the surgery came up to Rs 12.5 lakh and the same would have caused about Rs 50 lakh abroad, he said.
