With the surgery, the child, who could not raise his hand on his own or with external aid, can now move it freely, a hospital release said today.
"The thumb of the child was almost absent. The remnants of the fingers were joined together. The wrist was also in a distorted condition. On the whole, his right hand was with no form and function," it said.
A team of doctors led by Manoj Haridas of the Hand Surgery Department of the hospital performed the rare surgery, the release added.
