The man was brought here in North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) where doctors operated and removed the iron rod from his abdomen, sources said.
NEIGRIHMS authorities said that a 30-year-old man was brought at around 6.30 AM after he was injured in an accident when the jeep he was driving collided with a truck.
"The L-shaped iron rod with 6 inch thickness pierced his abdomen from front to the rear," doctors said.
"The part of the liver that pierces by the rod was repaired. Since it is a case of poly-trauma along with fracture of the right hand and ribs so he is in ICU on ventilator. He is out of danger," Saikia said.
