A multi command Indian army delegation headed by a Major General made a day long visit to Lhasa on July 11 as part of efforts by both the countries to improve relations between the militaries, official sources here told PTI.
This was perhaps the first time in recent years, an Indian military delegation visited Tibet. The visit took place close on the heels of Indian Ambassador S Jaishankar's tip to Tibet, which is the first by an Indian envoy to the Himalayan region in a decade.
Relations between the Indian and Chinese militaries improved in the recent years with periodic high level visits and resumption of annual Defence and Security dialogue between the armies of both sides.
