The decision to give the gifts, received by the President from various people and groups in the country and abroad, was taken following a request by Amravati District Collector, a Rashtrapati Bhavan official said.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has also been signed between the Rashtrapati Bhavan officials and Sports Complex Authority, Amravati in this regard.
As per the proposal, these souvenirs including artifacts will be given to Sports Complex Authority "on loan" and Rashtrapati Bhavan can take these articles back anytime.
"The Rashtrapati Bhavan has accepted the request by Collector Amravati who is also the chairman of Sports Complex Authority Amravati. According to the MoU, these articles can be called back anytime," the official said.
Initially, no time limit has been fixed for return of the gifts to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Patil, whose five-year tenure as the President is coming to end later this month, has received about 2,500 gift articles from individuals, societies and groups among others in India and during her foreign tours.
