Rashtriya Sanskrit Mahotsav North East begins in Nagaland

A three-day cultural exchange programme to popularise the rich cultural heritage of the country has begun here as part of the 'Rashtriya Sanskrit Mahotsav North East'.
The festival has been organized by the Ministry of Culture in association with North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Dimapur.
"The event would preserve, promote and popularize the rich cultural heritage of the country and reconnect the new generation," Dimapur NEZCC Director-in-charge, Om Prakash Bharti said.
During the festival, about 5,000 artistes from north east India and 2,000 artistes from across the country will showcase the country's history and tradition through dance, music, theatre and puppetry.

"A 'Sanskritik Yatra' is also being organized during the festival in which artistes will meet and interact with several communities residing in the villages of Nagaland leading to cultural exchange," Bharti added.
Besides Dimapur, the festival will be held at Majuli (Assam), Khowai (Tripura), Imphal, Aizawl, Gangtok and Shillong.
