Ravindra Singh appointed new Secretary, Culture Ministry

Senior IAS officer Ravindra Singh has been appointed as new Secretary in the Ministry of Culture.
Singh, a 1979 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is already working as Special Secretary in the Ministry.
The vacancy was created following the appointment of incumbent Sangita Gairola as Secretary in Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, an official release issued today said.
Gairola, a 1977 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, will be appointed in place of Nita Chowdhury.
Chowdhury, who is also an 1977 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) in place of Prem Narain.
Narain, a 1978 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been put on compulsory wait in the MoWCD until further orders, the release said.

The appointments were approved by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-led Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC).
The ACC has also approved appointment of Afzal Amanullah, IAS (Bihar cadre:1979 batch), as Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Amanullah is at present Special Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Incumbent Desh Deepak Verma, a 1978 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, retires tomorrow.
