Taking strong exception to Rawat not reacting to alleged "objectionable" language being used against his country and countrymen by foreign wrestlers at a much-hyped fight in the city recently, Padesh BJP spokesman Munna Singh Chauhan said it was "another form of sedition" for which Rawat should be booked immediately.
"Foreign wrestlers abused India and Indians in the presence of the Chief Minister, his aides and advisors and they sat through the programme silently. It amounts to sedition and they must immediately be booked," Chauhan said.
The remarks were allegedly made at a wrestling show titled, "The Great Khali Returns" where the former WWE wrestler from India took on Brody Steel and his tag team partners.
The programme was part of Rawat's youth outreach intitiative called CM4YOUTH.
If Congress can file sedition charges against a BJP office bearer at Bajpur in Udhamsingh Nagar district for making a statement against Rahul Gandhi why shouldn't sedition charges be levelled against the chief minister and his aides who give "silent support" to "anti-India" remarks being made by foreign nationals, he asked.
